ABOUT SAKYNA

Sakyna – A name, a brand, a lifestyle

SAKYNA is a Toronto-based fashion brand by myself, Eman Sakyna. This label is a culmination of everything I have ever loved in life. As a fashion enthusiast since birth, it had always been my dream to see my name on a label. Through almost a year in the industry, four years in entrepreneurship, and seventeen years of loving fashion, Sakyna was born.

With values and beliefs based in morality, kindness, and sustainability, Sakyna aims to be able to give back to the community and thank the world for it’s support and kindness. The brand also aims to evolve fashion and modesty while honouring all those who came before.

I am currently a 17 year old fashion designer. I have volunteered at many fashion shows such as Fashion Art Toronto (FAT) and Toronto’s Own Fashion Week (TOFW by Rchive) Designing has always been my passion and I’ve been doing it since she was 6 years old. Whether it was making dresses for her dolls or my younger sister, I knew at a young age I wanted to dedicate my life to it. My family and friends have been my biggest supporters throughout this journey.

SAKYNA’S ORIGIN.

I felt like every time I’d go shopping, I would never find anything pretty and modest. It felt like I would always have to sacrifice one to have the other. Shopping for any big occasion felt like the entire industry was out to get me. Nothing was good quality, nothing was modest, and it was all just polyester.

I very quickly realized that with my sewing machine, and some fabric, I could make my own abayas to wear on top of my dresses. Abayas upscale your outfits and instantly make them classier and modest. Lots of people think that modesty can’t be pretty. I think that you can look modest while looking and feeling gorgeous and classy.

ABOUT EMAN.

As a fashion designer and a student, my days are filled with functions and law tests, and my evenings are filled with sewing and fashion shows. It’s a hard balance, but I think it’s all worth it. Apart from sewing, I love to shop, read DC comics, and go out with my friends. Although, if you ask any of my friends, fashion comes up a lot in our conversations.

My family and my two best friends have been my rocks during the process of starting my brand. They’re always there for me and endlessly supporting me. I thank God every day that I have been blessed with such wonderful people in my life.
